Does anyone know when Eircom are going to update their exchanges?, is there possibly a list of what exchanges will be updated first?

Can we expect 8MB broadband in the near future?

I know you probably mean when you can get 8Mb from Eircom and the likes but it is currently possibly to get 8Mb from Smart it they are in your exchange and your line can handle it. All for the princely sum of €50 pm including line rental :D

Eircom have upgraded most of their exchanges. There's a reason the netopias they've been using for the past two years are all ADSL2 compliant.

No matter how much they upgrade the exchanges surely the line quality and distance is the real factor in faster speeds?

Surely this is a factor of market developments rather than any specific Eircom issue. I imagine it would now be very difficult to find a router/modem on sale that would not be adsl2 compliant?
