The Holiday with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. It reminded me of Bridget Jones' Diary and Tara Road.

Totally disagree, well worth the watch IMO although it is flawed and not particularly a feel-good film.

Rocky 6 (walked out after 45 minutes)
Elizabethtown (walked out after an hour)
    Spiderman 3
    The Hulk
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 (going to see 3 on Friday, I know it's going to be tripe )
    The Good Shepherd

Ah so that was you that walked out on it. The first 45 minutes are wtf is going on but then all the threads converge and its a very good film. As was said already not exactly a feel good film but very worthwhile and thought provoking.

    Yes, definitely avoid Serenity...

... though do get your hands on the Firefly series, watch that first and THEN view Serenity!

Much more enjoyable when done that way.

Neither of them were in Say It Isn't So. Think you're talking about Just Married (Say It Isn't So was pretty funny actually).

Agreed, and if Firefly doesn't do much for you then Serenity will just be painful. :)

    Citizen Kane
The original Star Wars trilogy (new ones much better)
Any film that isn't a sequel, or prefferably a threequel
Anything by Martin Scorcese, Christopher Nolan, Francis Ford Coppolla, Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg, Francois Truffaut, Akira Kurosawa etc...
Any films not featuring Adam Sandler and/or Rob Schneider

I agree with you (which I rarely do, particularly your views on Lost Season 3 ;) ) about Casino Royale (overrated nonsense tbh), but the last two Harry Potter films were good (first two not so much). Azkaban in particular was a terrific slice of blockbusting.

Babel - utter pretentious crap, oh look the crazy japanese school girl is yearing no knickers...wtf?
Mulholland drive - sorry lynch fans but i find his stuff unwatchable
Magnolia - stopped watching half way
Apocalypto - looked great & alot of effort was put in apart from a storyline (and a really bad puppet jaquar)

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind (I would have preferred to sit through two weeks of gonorrhea than that tbh).

    Mortal Combat 2

    Elizabethtown as someone already mentioned.

    Norbit (Ughhhhhhhh)

Two of my favourite films of all time with Mulholland Drive probably being top of them all.

    DO NOT AVOID!

Hmm, a lot of films mentioned here don't seem to be ones to avoid as much as ones that that user didn't particularly like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,460 ✭✭✭Ishmael

    The Postman

Tombstone (Although, the mustaches are hilarious looking)

    Jason X

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,857 ✭✭✭Valmont

I'll go with Jason X, jesus that was frighteningly bad. Despite being a Sarah Michelle Gellar fan, I thought the Grudge was crap.

Exactly, seems rather pointless listing films you just didn't like.

However, The Grudge is the first film mentioned that I'd actually agree with. And it's not just a 'I didn't like this film, everybody should avoid it' viewpoint like others seem to have.

Before watching this film I was loving the majority of J-Horror films that were being released. Then The Grudge came along and somehow managed to instantly make the whole genre completely clichéd. I can't bring myself to look at any similar (and prop ably superior) movies since then.

The postman is class and I haven't seen tombstone in a while but I remember it being excellent, jason x I have no opinion on.

films to avoid would be revolver, snow job, miami vice, the first 20 million

XXX - the non porn film. Only film I've ever walked out of the cinema.

Alexander. I think the digits on the DVD Player said 17 minutes when I turned it off. Might have been a bit premature but it's up to the film to hold your attention.

Most of the ones i think you should avoid have been mentioned before like The Postman and The Flinstones, but i also would like to add Fantastic Four. Hated it.
