I played there a few years ago in the news of the World thingy! Thought it was a very good course and the greens were brilliant, very receptive and really fast. Lovely clubhouse too.

what's the cost of membership / joining fee etc??

    the website is very poor.

I believe Luttrellstown is now owned by JP McManus and was totally revamped recently. Buddies of mine have played it and said it's streets ahead of the old course layout and that the clubhouse is luxurious. Think they've only got around 100 members or so which explains why they weren't able to field a team in the Metro against us recently.

Well I am playing there 2nd June so will be able to give a fresh update.
It is owned my McManus, they invested 40mill on the place, 9 mill of which when on developing the course and creating 4 new holes.
all in all the membership will set you back the guts of 9k I think thats great value for the facilities they offer.
What do you guys things about membership at 9k considering a green fee there is €130?

9k is flippin brilliant for anywhere in Dublin. Go for it.

i emailed the club and they said 9k is the joining fee (financining otions available through aib). this is a share in the club, which can be sold after 3 years. annual subs are around 1k.

These figures seem way off. L did rearrange their contracts with existing members, who are on a 20 year lease, to help finance the redevelopment of the course. The added fees were on a sliding scale depending on the age of the member, older players paying less etc. But i think the average was around 20k. If Carton House is looking for 40k, Druids Glen 50k to join, then L which is trying to position itself in the K Club league is hardly going to take
    9k!!
As for annual subs of 1k, dream on, even Hollystown look for more than that!!
It was around 2k before the new course, God knows what it will be now.
I will ask a member later today what the exact figures are and get back to you.
I think they have closer to 450 members, which was a condition of the original PP. as it is supposed to be part of our tourist infrastructure. But only about half of them play.

Yeah if it's a share I'd be very surprised if it's 9k. Would have thought over 20k. I know Glen of the Downs (pretty average course in wicklow) was 25k a share a few years ago. I've never played Luttrelstown but I'd say even if it's a complete sh1thole (which it doesn't sound like!) 9k would be good value!

apologies, i'm getting confised with knightbrook. emailed both them earlier.

the figures i quote above are for Knightsbrook.

if a mod (do we still have one!?!) can delete the above posts that would be great.

    Hi Graeme1982,

Are you sure it was knightsbrook, I just got an email from them this morning and was told membership was 15k???

Confusion reins. I heard about a month ago from a guy that played L, that alot of the improvements hadnt settled in. In otherwords, you were told not to play from the rough in certain areas but to place a ball on the fairway at the point of entry. That has hopefully been sorted, for the kind of money being floated around.

Apologies once again, 15k euro. Here is what they sent me...

"Thank you for your enquiry regarding membership of Knightsbrook Golf Club. We have a redeemable share option membership which costs €15,000 at the moment. It is redeemable after a minimum of three years and the golf club have first option on the share. The annual sub is included in the €15,000 up until the 1st January 2008 and it will be approximately €1,000 per annum after that."

From what i understand they are charging 9k per year without a joining fee. They see it as most younger guys are more likely to b able to afford 9k per year than 25k up front. pretty sure this is right cause the sales manager there is a friend of mine. But lovely course always look forward to playing there.

    What the hell?

I presume this is just for the first 3 year until you have your share paid? It's hardly 9k a year every year? (tho it woldn't surprise me!)

i hope so too... even if you managed to play once a week right through the year it would still work out at around a whopping 173 euro per round!!

Sure when I became a senior member of my place had to pay €3k the first year (1800 annual sub + 1300 as a part of the entry). Play 5 times that year - €600 euro a game!!

Spoke to existing member and it seems that JP McManus is looking for subs of 9k a year, with no joining fee for new members. Existing members on around 3k/year, but this will rise.
