This was Lansdowne Road's West Stand, at about 3AM on Sunday morning:

It was bloody noisy. too. Ten-ton blocks of reinforced concrete crashing to earth at regular intervals. Still, I no longer have an ugly concrete skeleton outside my window.

All to just add 10 seats seems like such a waste:rolleyes: *sigh*

Why were they doing that work at nighttime? Obviously its handier, but with noise levels, it mustn't have been nice for residents. Any pics of the full thing gone, or do they still have a bit of demolition to do on the West Stand? Dont think I've ever asked for pictures of a building site either.

They were taking it down over the bank holiday as they had to close the dart line as the dart runs underneath the west stand..heres a video I took of the east stand getting pulled down and also a few pictures..The whole thing is down now bar a small piece of the north terrace..I live in the havelock sqaure entrance so have to go thru all the noise dust etc!

As long as the new one looks as good as the "artists impressions" and gets built on time, it won't be sad at all.

It looks to me like the old Parc des Princes. Now that was/is a superb stadium for atmosphere. If we could get one like that in the centre of Dublin it would be superb.

I went out of my way to drive past the site on Wednesday.

It's just bizarre that such a familiar landmark is gone and there is all that sky visible from the railway crossing.

Today it really it me , all those memories turned to rubble , from my first game , to the riots of 95 , beating England , losing to England , the haka , 91 quarter final heartbreak

Went pst it today on the Dart, seemed kinda odd. As ws said, all that sky just suddenly visible. Hopefully now the new stadium will be done on time, and if the plans ar stuck to, it'll look very impressive.

we could have done with a bit of mechanical muscle like the above today -- although the back row and much of the backline showed very similar pace
