I love aretha, james brown etc but i dont think I'd go to see the blues brother. A bit cheesey for my liking. Might go to the james brown night in the dandelion this friday though.

I got the flyer this morning from the Herald AM people. Seems like it's just a load of cover bands... I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more original stuff in the mix.

Hey lads, think both of ye might be into this :D

The Poets Of Rhythm are a superb funk/soul/r&b group from Munich, Germany.
Heralded by DJ Shadow as his favorite live band, he signed them immediately to his own Quannum label in the late 1990's. Shadow and long-time collaborator Cut Chemist (from Jurassic 5) also produced their most widely known track “I Changed My Mind”.

Their classic 1993 album “Practice What You Preach” sounded like it could easily have come from the Southside of Chicago in the late 60's, or Memphis in the height of the Stax era. This gig is highly recommended for fans of The Meters, Booker T and The MGs, The Funk Brothers, James Brown Revue, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Mr. Scruff and many more legendary soul and funk bands.

The Rance Allen band (playing in the Mansion House) are meant to be excellent. Supported by Gardiner Street Gospel choir who I've seen a couple of times and they always put on a great performance. I reckon that'd be a good one. Alternatively there's lots of outdoor music in Merrion Sq on Sunday ...so if the weather's good... a nice picnic lunch and some chilled out soul..... Couldn't get much better - except for the fact that it's FREE!:)
