Hey, complete motor sport beginner, so excuse my ignorance. I’m looking for any advice/info on the Nuremburg Ring i.e. how to get there, whether to bring your own car or rent when over there etc.

I was recently talking to a guy whilst on holidays who was big into his motor sports, who recommended I try it out even if I wasn’t a petrol head. It’s not the F1 that I’m looking for info/advice on but rather driving around the ring yourself. Much appreciate anything you got….

    Cheers!

1st of all its called the Nurburgring Ring....
Don't bring your own car, unless you can afford to lose it :)
Most hire companies dont insure you while on "The Ring" so if you do have a crash you'll have to tow the car down the road a make like u crashed it there.
You should find most of the info http://www.nuerburgring.de/1_nuerburgring/bmw_ring_taxi/index.html?L=1
If you've no performance driving experience then you might want to try out the "Ring Taxi" (if you can afford it that is).

This is a big no no, so dont entertain the idea of bringing a rental car to the track. Apparently folks suspect of doing this have been reported to the car rental companies by "watchers" at the track.

Be aware of other hidden & fairly savage bills incurred if you crash as detailed at the bottom of the following link:

Good luck when you are over there, just dont go too mad especially after Pflanzgarten were it can get quite hairy!

Have been loads of times - The place is car and motorsport heaven.. The whole locality revolves around the track and cars in general.

As for the rented thing. I've rented more than a few cars out and returned them without problem.

Heading over next month with about 14 other Irish cars for a weekend!
