First trailer for His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass (Or Northern Lights here) is online [HERE]

    http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/thegoldencompass.html

Like the steampunk look but just seems a bit shiny. Like the look of Iorek and Lord Asreal. And like the look of Serafina. Although not sure about...
Seems they are flying without their branches

Also, pity they had to connect it to LOTR but should have expected it.

    Anyway, what d'ye think?

Casting seems pretty spot on, but the whole "Golden Compass" Title thing is a little worrying....If they start the dumbing down with the title, where'r they going to stop?

The Golden Compass is what the first book was called in the US. The title change has nothing to do with the films.

Oh thank the lord...but hang on, first harry potter was called philosopher's stone here and sorcerer's stone in the U.S., why are both sides of the atlantic getting the American name this time around?
Ah, just reread the OP, *smacks forehead* Duoy, sorry
