Trouble with modem

    I just installed a modem in a pc and there a problem

    The modem dials up okay (Ring tone etc) when it gets to the stage of
    Verify user name password, it bombs out

    getting a different error every time
    i.e server did not respond
    device not working etc.

    I have tried both iolfree and eircom and it is the same case,

    i have iolfree setup on another machine and the setup is identical.

    Any suggestions appreciated

    Configure it to ring your mobile and see if it gets to the ringing stage or bombs out.

    Hvae you ran the modem diagnostics?

    Details about what os,the brand of modem etc would be handy too.

    os in win xp,
    did not configure it to ring my mobile by i did use it to send a fax (which went through)

    Think it is an agere modem (white box from maplins),
