can anyone recommend a good 40-42" LCD or Plasma tv for up to €1400. Mainly used for shy and dvd's but want to be ready for HD...

Can't go wrong with the Samsung range. Decent price and great quality. Unless you want to spend 2k+ on a Sony Bravia.

Got the Samsung PS-42Q96HD 42" plasma...excellent looking and picture fantastic...sound ok...€1399 Currys

Yeah...really happy...until started to switch itself off and on again (very intermitent)...
