ISS - Image Supply Systems. They're in the phone book, or do a search online.

    Service Centre is:

    Canon Ireland Ltd
    Arena Rd
    Sandyford Ind Estate
    D18
    Ph 01 2052400
    www.canon.ie

Called them yesterday about a problem with an A95 - €150 minimum charge to look at it

Same story at Canon dealer at top of Grafton street.

    Good luck

Took 'em 7 weeks to sort out a warranty issue with my 1D ... be careful.

ISS do lens calibration ... I'm not 100% certain if they can do everything. My camera was sent to the UK ... but it is a new model type, apparently this was a factor.

I left a Canon 5D and 3 lenses 70-200 2.8L, 24-105 4L and 85mm 1.8 with ISS - Image Supply Systems on Thursday 24th Jan to get a quote to have them calibrated. I was told someone would ring me later or tomorrow. So when I heard notting on Friday I rang to get the quote, I was then told my camera had been sent to the UK, this I was not told when I left it in, but the worst part was it would take about 2 weeks to get it back even if I decieded I didn't want to go ahead with the calibration. So now 1 week later I still have note recieved a price.

    Finally got a quote back today from Image Supply Systems just 3 days shy of having my gear for 2 weeks. The reason the gave me for the delay was a problem Canon had with there booking system, is was down for 3 days ie. Monday - Wednesday. The estimate I recieved for calibration for theses items is;

    Canon 5D €157.50 + VAT
    70-200L F1.8 €118.13 + VAT
    24-105L F4 78.75 + VAT
    85mm F1.8 78.75 + VAT

Was told it should be done by the end of the week

    Not according to Canon.

Canon will tell you that their only authorised repair centre in Ireland is ISS

ISS is the only official place but they gave me the worst customer service possible. quoted me one price then when i went to collect, added on another €350 and wouldn't budge on the price. would have been cheaper to buy a new camera

I'd NEVER use ISS or ever recomend them to anyone

    very good company

Prices for repair with Cameracare are quite reasonable and they are honest enough to tell you if worth repairing or buy new cam.

I wouldn't recommend them either, but they are the only Canon authorised repair centre in Ireland.

Any time I've had to use them, they've been fine, and prices have been alright. But I know plenty of people don't like them at all.

this is the reply I got form Canon Ireland:

    Hello,

For repair you can send to:
    Canon Consumer Imaging
    Unit 130, Centennial Park
    Elstree Hill South
    Elstree
    England
    W06 0SE
    phone: 0044 8705 143723, option 1 then 3

As there no longer are any repair centres in Ireland, this one is the closest. Send the camera body, your own contact information (adress and phone number), and a copy of the purchase receipt for repair under the manufacturer's warranty.

    Regards,

    Camera Repair

0044 8443690100 is the new number btw.

On the subject of ISS, they are deplorably bad, so much so, it appears from the above post that Canon don't even recommend them anymore.

5-7 days for an estimate is no service at all and then they send it off anyway :(

Anyone know these guys ? Seem nice enough (spoke to Declan), but you deliver the stuff to his house, and he brings it to the workshop, and they only have mobile numbers. A 70-200 f2.8L IS is alot of kit to hand over in those circumstances without a recommendation, but if people can vouch for them, I'd rather give them the business than Canon UK.

    Hey

Just wondering where you got your 400d fixed. I have the same problem. 2 pins broke on the CF slot.

Also does anyone recommend the Camera Repair Centre. Would like to keep the business local if possible

    Thanks

Hi Bliamf - yes I used the camera repair centre - Declan was the guys name, I can't remember how much it cost but it was very reasonable and he did a full service!clean on the camera. He picked up the camera from my husbands work in Ballsbridge and dropped it back when he had it finished. I would absolutely definitely recommend this guy.

    Hope this helps.
