Optiplex 320 CD Audio Playback Issue

Hi Guys, Having a problem with our Optiplex 320s at the moment. On trying to play an audio cd, the playback is jerky and with dropouts. The best way to describe it would be to say it sounds like a really bad stream. The drives are HL-DT-ST CDRW/DVD GCC-4482s cd drives arent something that would be used for audio around here too much, so today was the first time we actually realised there was an issue with one of the machines, and cross checked it with another both had the same problem Its definitely not an audio driver, soundcard or speaker problem, as Ive trouble shooted all of those and theyre working fine. Is this a widespread issue or is it just sheer bad luck that the 2 machines we have here have this problem? Any ideas for a fix?

    Thanks

    Pete
