i was just thinking, will they ever explain what the hatch logos and names actually mean?
or are we just ment to figure it out ourselves?

I am not sure what you mean. We know what they mean, for example The Flame Station was the communication station etc.

    What exactly are you asking?

The meaning of the hatch logos are pretty low on the list of mysteries that need to be answered. Most of them speak for themselves. Here are all the official ones we've seen so far:

The Swan, The Arrow, The Staff, The Pearl

The Hydra, The Flame, The Looking Glass

I really like the one for The Looking Glass, an obvious allusion to Alice in Wonderland. See the hole in the rabbit's neck (down the rabbit hole) with what looks like a clock-face? The time is 8:15 as in Flight 815 and The Numbers. The rabbit in that story is always worried about running late as well.

Nice, never actually paid much attention to the time on the clock face on the rabits neck.

Did we ever actually discover the purpose of the Arrow? If not, I get a feeling at this stage we may never, and it was just relevant to the plot arc of the tail section survivors.

Ah mate, thats just like saying, why is a pen called a pen. Answer is because it is. They are just names for the stations, don't look too deeply into them.

Well according to the blast-door map it was a storage facility which matches with what the tailies found. However crossed-out writing indicates that it may have once been used for manufacturing. But then in Ben's flashback Horace, a mathematician, was wearing The Arrow station badge on his jump-suit. So I think like the Swan it's probably served several purposes over the years.
