Outlook syncing contacts

I use outlook to send and receive emails from my online yahoo a/c. I saw an icon on the bottom right and hovered over it and it said "Outlook syncing contacts". Is it normal for outlook to periodically sync with my yahoo a/c or does it sound like spyware?
