Camping shops is the first place you should check. I saw Dunnes selling 2 - 3 - 4 man tents all quite cheap. Not sure what the quality would be like. Seeing its festival season, most of the big stores will probably have them

ALDI had a 3 man igloo tent earlier in May. The link doesn't seem to work anymore but here's the details. No doubt some of the shops will still have stocks left

  • Just before music festivals, the camping shops in the area around jervis street will have special offers on what are usually pretty decent tents.

Thats where we got our inter-railing tent. Word of advice, its about value, not price. We got one (4people) for €80. There were cheaper ones there, but you gotta remember, what are you gonna do when your tent pole string snaps, or your outer sheet rips and you're in a different country, with less than €20 in your pocket?

Get a decent tent, none of these cheapo disposable ones..

I've seen a good deal in Halfords, tent, 4 sleeping bags, 2 double air mattresses, 2 camping flashlights for 150 Euro.

    Cheers,
    Magic

If you're interrailing you'll want something small and light. There's a really good two man tent called a Mongoose we've used before

Great Outdoors in Dublin would have them. I think they're about 40/50 euro.

Could anyone reccomend a good online retailer and review site for tents?

Im just trying to get a decent one online this time as opposed to just taking what the shops have to offer. im kinda thinking something along 2 - 4 man tent thats sturdy and won't fall to crap too easily with nice design features.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Agree with you there. If you want something that will do once, buy it from the bargin bins in the centre lane of lidl. If you buy there, you buy twice...if you buy a tent for the price of 3 or 4 pints, what do going to do when it leaks ?

I got the one aldi had a few weeks back, 2 man tent , 2 sleeping bags and 2 mats for 40. the tent has 2 layers and seems pretty good(havent given it a proper test yet tho).
Ebay has some good ones too for alright price.

I would say yo should buy abroad, remember Aer Lingus only allow 20kg of luggage and Ryanair 15kg, so for our interrailing were going to buy relatively cheap tents when we get to the place where we first need them and leave them if were going to exceed Ryanair's 15kg on the way home

    Hi,

I just wanted to get it out there that I'm selling individual letters for 'pimping your tent' so you can identify and make your tent unique amongst the millions..

its only a euro per letter but logos and images can be priced up too, I'll be on the camping grounds next weekend and can post to anywhere in the country too

If you're interested give us a shout pimpmystuff@gmail.com and/or check out the bebo page http://pimpmystuffs.bebo.com

    Cheers
    Nic
