My bike was stroked, taken apart and thrown into a river. It's an Aprilla Habana 125. It’s down in the Garda station at the moment. I don’t know if it’s worth repairing (it only had 3rd party insurance) but it’s a pain knowing I’ve lost the full value of the bike. Does anyone think it's salvageable. I'm in Dublin West, so if you know of anyone worth bringing it to, let me know. If it's repairable, would I be far off the mark to say it'll cost 600 Euro or so?

them pics brought a tear to my eye,i have the custom version of the habana/mojito!!??!!. your best bet would be to get it to a garage/bikeshop and get a quote on repairing the mechanical problems(probably numerous seeing as shes been in the water). you can buy the bodywork yourself from;http://www.easyparts.nl/. they do all the bodywork for habana/mojito's and a lot cheaper than what any garage will do for you. i had a crash last year and left the bike in to get taken care of mechanically and then bought all the bodywork myself and fixed her up as good as new. they get the parts straight from aprilia. hope that helps:cool:

Really nasty sight, I hate to see bikes in such a state. The thing is if you get it repaired will you two be happy together again ?

Seeing as she has been violated will you be happy with seconds ?

Sorry to see that, Bobby Fowler....that's never good. Sharp intake of breath.

I think that it might be expensive. Prohibitively so. A saturated petrol engine is probably far from repairable - check with an Aprilia merchant first though don't believe me - and may need replacement along with probably all of the electrical wiring and equipment (relays, ignition control). A second hand engine might be gettable, but everything else to go with it? Dunno.....

Be prepared for bad news, and the bike buyer's guide. I think repair would cost almost as much as replacement, and bring with it more uncertainty.
    My sympathies...

Cheers for the feedback. While I enjoyed using the bike I really know nothing about them so wouldn't get into sourcing the parts myself. Can't see myself spending more than 600 Euro. I've got a car + a good bicycle so might cut my losses (my last moped was stroked as well) I've sent a mail to motomax and the celtic motorbike company with those pictures.

I got an email back from the guys in Motomax
"Sorry to hear your bike was nicked, it doesn’t look in great shape!! I will allow you salvage or breaking value on it, do you want us to pick up from Garda Station and give you a price?"
Only thing here is that it's 50 Euro to pick the bike up from the Garda Station & 80 Euro for an estimate.
Is this the death of a thousand cuts?

sorry to hear about your bike. my advise would be to break it as wil costs hundreds to put rite.

And aswell it all depends where the water got into i.e. crankcase etc. you might not need that many parts but the labour will be loads as they will have to check every single thing.

if it was me i would break it for parts. big demand for secondhand parts for them habanas.

Fair enough - so do I say that I don't want an estimate but just want the breaking value on it?

no you will need the estimate to claim with ur insurance etc. more than likely it will be declared a rite off by the insurance, due to the water damage, then you can scrap it for parts.

city spares in cherry orchard by bikes to break. or you could just break it for parts yourself if you know a bit about bikes.

    OP only has TP cover.

Back to OP. Have you a friend with a van to pick in up from the Garda station and then bring it to city spares or somewhere similar for breaking? Would be better then giving MotoMax EUR130 to do the same. Or maybe try ringing the bike breakers and see if they will pick it up?
