ok ppl, never used PT before but seeing as how Ive set myself a new challenge* Ive decided it would be prudent of me to purchase PT for Omaha and take this thing seriously.

Im playing Omaha exclusively on FTP and I understand from some ppls posts that it is possible to datamine FTP and stuff (u see its the "stuff" that confuses me).

Anyway I would like to learn how to use PT properly i.e. interput the stats on my own game. I would also like to have one of those set ups where it shows the stats on my opponents. (what are these called?). I would also like to learn how to datamine FTP..

Anyway as you can see ive got plenty of questions - I would appreciate feedback from anybody that can help me. links to info etc etc. The good ppl with the knowledge will be rewarded with pints aplenty!

mods - i hope im not gonna get a lashing on this (hopefully this may prove a guide to PT for Omaha in the future)

    Thank you all very much..

*Challenge = become proficient in Omaha and win loads and loads of money, simple really! ps. I have this challenged trademarked so if anybody else decides that they are gonna learn omaha and win money they are gonna have to pay me c.15% of all their future profits - dont complain, its only fair!

you will need to get the pokertracker omaha version, never used it but its the same as the holdem version essentially. this will auto import all the hands you play and also, if you auto-import while observing a table, it will take in all the hands from that table also. if you dont do it while the table is open, the hand history is deleted.
there are programs such as dataminer or full tilt table opener which make this job alot easier (the latter is free) and will quickly build up ur database if you leave 16 tables open and have pokertracker automatically import.

as far as the stats go, this is called ur hud. poker ace hud (PAHud) is generally accepted as the best and is quite easy to setup. you will need the newer beta version from their site if you want to be able to resize the full tilt tables. very handy link for PAHud stats

    hope this helped

I cant answer some of the questions because i dont play Omaha but heres how to datamine Full Tilt.

Firstly in Options on the full tilt main menu is Hand Histories

Select a folder where you want to store your files. For this example will use c:/poker/HandHistories

Then Open Poker Tracker Goto File - Auto Import Full Tilt Hand Histories

In the settings tab everything should be unticked. In the observed Hands Tab you can change the settings so it will only mine hands with more than or equal to x amount of players, this is useful when the games get down to 2-3 handed as the stats such as v$pip will be distorted with so few players.

To the right of the 2 Tabs is a button called Hand History Folder Location... click on that and scroll to the folder you selected in the Full Tilt Options i.e c:/poker/HandHistories

Then open 16 tables (the max allowed to be open on FT) and in the settings tab on Poker Tracker click the start timer button, 1 minute later it should say something on the lines of 16 files found importing x amount of Hand Histories. It will do this every minute.

Hope That helps id suggest the 2+2 forums for finding out how to interpret your stats, check the stickys in the omaha section or do a search.

Heres the link for the FT table opener which is an excellent tool. It will open and close tables under certain conditions like when the pot average slips below $3 or theres less than 4 people at the table and it will reopen a table that meets the criteria in its place so youll never have to come back and see only 10 active tables youll always have 16.

PTO is pretty much exactly the same as PTholdem as far as setting up your DB and importing and stuff. I haven't used it on FT though. When you get it up and running post up some stats and we'll tell you how bad you are :)

ok, so ive finished playing now for the night and ive set this table opener thing going.. When I get up in the morning im kinda expecting to see a pile of ash where my laptop is now.

Ive gotten this message a few times - anybody tell me what it means? What I should do about it?

Import Finished With Errors - The import finished but there were errors. Open the Utilities/Error Log Display/Maintenance window to see the errors - 89 file(s) read - 13 new hand(s) were imported.

If you go to the Utilites Menu in Poker Tracker and then click on Error Log Display/Maintenance and in there it should give you further details of the errors.

I used to get these on FT aswell but i used to just purge the errors. Not sure if thats correct or not but id post the error on the PT forum

Ok, ive left the laptop running and came home to realise that for some reason ive not downloaded any hands despite having tables open.

I linked the FT table opener and downloaded it. It does mention something about AutoHotKey - dont know what this is - am I supposed to do anything with it?

I have all the boxes unticked on both tabs of the Import page in PT - is this correct..

    I am a technophobe

whilst im complaining about techie things! I bought a wireless router a few weeks ago and still cant get the frickin thing working.

whilst im complaining about techie things! I bought a wireless router a few weeks ago and still cant get the frickin thing working.

Heres the instructions from the website:

    Installation:
Note: If you previously installed Full Tilt Table Opener when I supplied a "windows installer" type of install program, you should uninstall these old versions first using Control Panel...Add and Remove Programs

    Easy Method:

    1. Download the unzip program FullTiltTableOpenerXYZ.exe (where XYZ is the current version number) to any folder on your computer. I recommend the folder location: c:\Program Files\FullTiltTableOpener

    2. Run this unzip program FullTiltTableOpenerXXX.exe, and it will ask you where you want to put the files. Again I recommend that you unzip them to this same location: c:\Program Files\FullTiltTableOpener

The following files will now be in the folder you selected:

FullTiltTableOpener.exe - this is the main program. You can create an icon for you desktop by right clicking on it in Windows Explorer...Send To...Desktop.

FullTiltTableOpener.ahk - this is the source code. If you are familiar with AutoHotKey and have AutoHotKey installed on your computer, you can run this program using this file.
    ftto.ico - icon file

So go to http://www.autohotkey.com/ and download hotkey and it should work. To check and see if it is working, just test it by setting it to open 2 tables. Leave Full Tilt open and be logged in and when you click start you should see it going through the lobby to find a table and it should then open. Als be aware in the table opener program there is a section where you select which lobby to search in make sure you change it from the default Holdem to Omaha otherwise it wont work. If it works successfully youll see 2 tables opening, then you can set it to the full 16 or whatever you want.

Same with poker tracker, if you have that setup correctly it will say in settings tab reading 16 files and importing xx number of hands. If you dont see this then you know there something wrong and its not importing files.

Yes your right having all the boxes unticked in the import section. Have you set the HAND HISTORY LOCATION FOLDER to the same folder you have set for the hand history folder in your full tilt options?

The easiest way to troubleshoot this is to manually open 4 tables and after you set it to auto import and click the start button give it about 3 minutes and it should be saying reading 4 files and importing 10 or so hand histories in the settings box in the import function of poker tracker. Then once that is working you can close all the tables and see if you can get auto table opener to work then.

    Have you got AHK installed?
Have you the hand history pointing to the Hand History folder (and not your username folder!)?
