    HI

I just got my new pup last week and have to say it the best thing I ever did he is so good. We have house trained him in 4 days and has learnt to sit on command.

We have just one problem he wakes up at 5 in the morning and start barking for us to get up has anyone one any tips on how we can get him out of this or is it just going to take time

    Thanks for your help

He is telling you he needs to pee! You have him housetrained & he has a small bladder.

Congrats! Is he any particular breed?( Just curious :) )

If hes just barking for no reason and definately isnt barking bec he needs a pee then I would ignore it. If you want to get up to check on him Id wait until the barking has stopped before you go into the room otherwise hell think that he barks and you come (and hed be right!)

if hes a young pup then it could just be lonliness some people put a teddy in with the pup or an old tshirt with your smell on it. I would prob get up and let him out for a wee anyway just to be sure, him being a puppy n all!

It could be as simple as you moving around that awoke him and he's looking for you. It's recommended that within a few minutes of you waking up to go down and let puppy out cos they need to go to the loo when they wake up. But I agree with the others, If you know its not toilet related, then he is looking for you cos he's lonely. as Jotter said - put something with your scent on it and a toy/teddy bear to keep him company. :)
What kind of doggie did you get? I admit i'm a sucker for most animals!

I have a 9 mth old boy and a 6 mth old pup, there are days when I KNOW i was mad to get the dog but then there are other days, like today, when im glad bec its nice to see them interact together. I cant let the dog in when im feeding the baby as the baby will literally hang over the highchair to try get the dog to lick his hand and bec the babys hand is covered in food the dog gladly obliges!! Its like having 2 kids trying to get them both to behave, Im worn out :D !

Dog is hard work but the more work you put in as pups the better your relationship in the long run - very important with the kids! Make sure you socialise him with groups of kids as well bec youll have kids parties etc in the future so you dont want him overwhelmed with their giddyness and with all these little hands trying to pet him!
