Linksky Router & Mac??

My flatmate just bought a Linksky router for our flat and I've been trying to set it up. I've managed to connect it and its working fine but I'd like to put a password on it-but from reading up on the internet it seems that you just can't do it with Macs. (We both have ibook G4 and there isn't any pcs in the flat.) So I've got two questions-has anyone found a way around this? Or if not, and I set up the password from someone elses pc which I've seen recommended-will that cause us any problems if something goes wrong with it? I imagine it would but I don't really know! Cheers.

is it a wifi router?? if so then you can put a WEP or WPA keyword on the network.

actually you can also put a MAC address allow list. e.g. you set the router to work with the MAC addresses of your notebooks only. so nobody else can connect to it.

Once you have the IP address of the router you can just type it into any internet browser that you use and set the router up via it's HTML control panel. It's all done over HTML so it doesn't matter what type of computer you're using.

You can get the IP address of the router in 'Network' under the System Preferences panel.
