20k guart'd online mtt on ipoker 25 players left playing 9 handed.
Average stacks are only about 10bb's and most of the short stacks are only a double up away from being top6.

Table isnt playing too crazy but for most players its obviously all in or fold and players will call with a hand like 66-AJs or better but nobody is pushing rags anywhere bar the co/button.

In this hand blinds are 12,000/24,000 and i have 171,000. Ive just noticed the bb is sitting out. utg and utg+1 have folded and im next to act holding 97o.
    Push all in or fold?.

very often ive noticed the bb sitting out, and then returns just before the action is on him. alot of the time he is holding a monster and wants to incite a shove to get paid.

when the blinds are this high can anyone afford to be sitting out for their bb?

    i fold anyway.

you have seven big blinds. if people are really calling with that wide a range then ship it. if everyone folds yippee, if someone calls with that range you won't be in awful shape.
    lol. donkaments.

Was he also 'sat out' for the previous hand(s)? If not, then he could be setting it up as MrPlough said. If Yes, then push it all-in.

if he's angle shooting with aa, then the flop will come up 779 and justice will be served obv.

Yeah he was sitting out the previous hand but i that was all i noticed him sitting out for. I dont think its feasible for a player to reliably sit out in order to dupe players into pushing in the hope that they get back in time along with getting a good hand to call with especially with the couple of seconds you have to act on ipoker. Anyway its not one of those hands where the bb came back in time to call.

How often? Once and it stuck in your mind or 100s of times so much so that it's a deffinite trend? Don't get me wrong it's just sometimes we do notice something and it sticks even if it isn't a regular event.

I did this a few times with AA,KK etc in the BB at the start of iPoker. I stopped doing it after the occasion where I didn't click 'I am back' quickly enough.

People sometimes do pretend to be sitting out in the bb at this stage. I guess the theory is that if you wake up with a calling hand you may encourage more action otherwise a walk is so rare here that you'll be folding anyway. So I wouldn't be factoring that in.
Every now and then I'd shove depending on all the usual dynamics but mostly I'll fold grit my teeth and hope for a better spot.
The structure is horrible with 3 tables left.

super easy fold. Theres 5 left to act behind you. 97o does terrible against their calling range.

Well i posted this because i feel its a decision on the wire and split opinions seem to indicate its a close one either way, maybe more felt fold is best. 5 left to act behind a vacant bb versus blinds coming up soon.
In the end i pushed and a player behind who covered me had a big pp and that was it. There are merits for a fold and i dont think i play the hand the same every time but i think i might push again if it came up. lol donkaments!
