Buying from 7 day shop

Not sure if this is the right place but I know a lot of people on here buy from them. These are two statements from their website which appear to be contradictory.

    (a) VAT is not payable on this item as it is sent to you in a consignment of less than £18 in value.

    (b) We cannot discount any of our prices for whatever reason but would like you to note that all items in our catalogue with an individual value of under £18 are exempt from any Sales Tax (VAT).

This is a bit ambiguous. Does it mean you can order as much as you like as long as no one item has a greater value than £18 or does the entire order have to be less than £18?

as long as each individual item is under £18 then they dont charge VAT. This is because they ship items individually.

Well I've only ever bought small items from them and they have always split them up on dispatch so that each package's value is under the limit (if possible obviously). For example if I bought two items for £15, they would come separately.

But then they get you on postage as everything is sent individually.

    Good bargains there though.

They actually don't charge P&P per item, it's per order. As far as I know, items within the order may be sent separately, but you only pay one P&P charge for each order, regardless of the number of items sent. I agree there are very good bargains to be had, and they are excellent when it comes to returns/faulty items. Alround highly recommended.

I never use 7dayshops because it always looks unsecure.
Very open site ,I'd be afraid details would be stolen from the site:(

I've bought several items from them, never had a problem.

@Brian: And nothing to suggest that my details were ever stolen from the site either....

I've used them for years and purchased many items and have never
had any problems with my credit card or customs. As mentioned they
split the order and still only charge the GBP 3.95 for the total postage.
I've even ordered items for more than the GBP 18 and avoided customs.
Some great bargains on there! Don't bother with the express dispatch
option, not worth it or needed.

I'll start using them so ,I'm on their mailing list . Some of the stuff is ridiculously cheap:)

    Hope I didn't offend loyal customers:D

I do use them, but only for small things (batteries, memory, film etc) that most most likely won't require having to deal with their "customer service".

As a caveat, I bought a tripod from them about 2 years ago, which arrived damaged, and needed to be sent back. It was a long drawn out and expensive (Irish rip-off postal charges are another good reason to keep things small) process which finally left me with a tripod I at that stage didn't want.

But as I say, for small stuff that doesn't break easily, they're great.
