Well spotted, I don't think it does, as with other LCDs on their site, they mention PAL I, along with the other PAL standards.
Plus, it's a 32U2000E, the model distributed here doesn't have an E at the end.

What would the digital tuner be able to pick up in Ireland?

RTE 1, RTE 2, TV3 & TG4 are all broadcast in digital in certain parts of the country. Hop on the broadcasting forum for details. 3 Rock is definitely broadcasting in digital though.

Dont be daft, Digital Broadcasts in Ireland are a trial service only and up to the end of 2008 ONLY

At the end of 2008 Digital TV in Ireland will be turned off. There is no money in the NDP to fund the 2 transmitters after that .

The exception is if you pick it up from the UK.

If you do not its a rather expensive doorstop you bought there.

    hardly a doorstop,
a non pal/i tv will still work fine with ntl and sky digital,
    along with dvd/vcr/consoles etc.

if your investing in a 750eu tv to watch analog terrestrial only youve got your priorities wrong.

I see the black Bravia is €899 in Harvey Norman this weekend.

Also a great offer in DID.

They have the Sony Bravia 40inch, big glass stand and an 850 watt Sony Home Theratre all for €1450, it has €500 of a reduction!

Plus it only has a UHF tuner for analogue reception (most of our analogue transmissions are in VHF).

Wrong, looks the same. The P Series Bravia has the same case as a U series, just a higher spec. (1080i native res)

Got the KDL40P2530U ( Black to match the PS3) for €1099 in the sony centre, o'connell street yesterday. They have the 32" on offer too. Selling fast, you could phone them on 01 -8731512. They also told me they match prices. I paid €25 delivery but I live within 2 miles.

I got the same model under an offer in Dixons. They are bundling the 40inch along with large glass stand (worth €199) and a Sony DVD recorder (worth €240 on Argos) all for €1379.

Excellent offer for people who want the package. Which Dixons?

It is in all Dixons but you may have to ask for it.

I had to ask as i said i had seen the ad on the Sunday World.

The salesman checked his computer system and it was on it.

Its good offer as i checked lots other stores and they were all selling the same model tv at that same price without any free glass stand or dvd recorder.

By the way PS3 ROCKS on it! (i got mine in Liffey Valley)

I don't know that TV in particular, but I would not touch a Beko television with a bargepole ever again. The cheap and cheerful approach is not the best, when its a consumer appliance that you'll most probably be looking at for several hours a day......

Very happy overall with this TV. It looks great, is easy to set up and has nice onscreen menus with excellent sound.

I'd also recommend Komplett as excellent. The only down side is their great delivery charge made me feel Dell really are the Ryanir of online sales when it comes to the sting in the tail charges! Approx €15 for a 32" screen from Komplett vs €60 for a delivering a PC (tower only)

One thing I've noticed that slow moving or still images have portions move at times. You might expect LCDs to show problems with fast action but no problem there - it's great for sports. I'd be interested to see if anyone else has noticed pieces of onscreen faces distort and then re-resolve? If I can sort that with a setting option I'd gladly rate it 5*

I've a 42" panel from the same family. It does the same :(
Its particularly noticeable on analogue signals- if you use digital signals (Sky digibox/PS3 etc) it doesn't seem to be an issue. Maybe its something to do with the Bravia engine?

I've been looking at these for a while - waiting for prices to drop a wee bit, or better still, a free 5 yr warranty, as is being offered by some Sony "bricks an mortar" outlts in the UK. ( I know Panasonic have a 5 yr deal here but you effectively pay 200+ more compared to an online price)

Having looked at a few in the shops, and based on review here http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/reviews_main.aspx the D3000 appears to be the one (100 Hz job)

Best price I have found is laptops direct at €875 + delivery http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Sony_KDL32D3000U_32_Inch_HD_Ready_LCD_TV_KDL32D3000U/version.asp. They reduced their price last week while komplett increased theirs by €50 to just under €1100 to catch the Xmas rush (I'm normally a komplett fan, but I hate this sort of thing:( - OK I know - Supply and demand!)

It's UK model (U) and seems to have the VHF tuner

Here's the comparison from the Sony site http://www.sony.ie/product/CompareProducts.action?site=odw_en_IE&pcReturnUrl=%2Fproduct%2FProductComparisonWizard.action%3Fsite%3Dodw_en_IE%26pcReturnUrl%3D%252Fview%252FView.action%253Fsection%253DODW%252BSS%252BALL%252BProducts%2526productcategory%253DTVP%252BLCD%252BTV%2526site%253Dodw_en_IE%2526page%253DProductSeriesHome%2526category%253DTVP%252BLCD%252BTV%2526site%253Dodw_en_IE%2526category%253DTVP%252BLCD%252BTV%26sectiontype%3DProduct%26modelName%3DKDL-32D3000&models=KDL-32D3000&models=KDL-26T3000&models=KDL-32S3000&models=KDL-32U3000

I have never personally dealt with laptopsdirect but, based on other laptop threads they seem OK. Can anyone confirm how the warranty claim works - I presume you deal directly with Sony Ireland
