I have an interview coming up shortly & want to be prepared for the following question, which will arise.

What have you being doing since your last position?

I've been on the dole since mid-feb & have being actively seeking full time employment. I graduated last year & being quite fussy, am only looking for employment in my field - engineering.

    How should I address this?

It's only been three months so you could say you've been looking after a sick parent or travelling. What were you doing before going on the dole? Working I assume?

Just tell them you've been actively looking for secure, permanent work with the right employer which is hard to find and takes time. Don't lie, if you're caught out it wouldn't go down too well.

Having taxpayers fund your lifestyle whilst holding out for your dream job.

Other than that travelling is probably your best bet.

sweeten the truth in an interview but don't lie, you will show stress and you may find yourself digging a hole.

Tell them the truth - theres nothing wrong with saying you've been looking for the right position.

You say you have been looking since Feb - what were you doing since last June?
