Hi all, any consensus of what the weather will be like on Thursday?

If you don't already know, good or bad weather can affect turnout in a big way. In 2002, the weather was bad across most of the country, and it was one of the lowest turnouts ever.

I think it'll be reasonable - high teens and bright. I'm using accuweather

Polling day - dry, sunny in the morning - clouding over from the Northwest late afternoon/evening. Just a little drizzle possible later in the west and Northwest but essentially dry. Mild 15 - 17C generally with light westerly winds. So pleasant enough :)

    According to Met Éireann:

"Thursday will be another warm day with outbreaks of rain at times but dry bright periods also. Winds on Wednesday and Thursday will be light to moderate southwest to west."

    And according to BreakingNews.ie:

"Thursday: There will be a lot of cloud everywhere with drizzly rain across the northern half of the country. Light winds.
    Max temp 17-20°C (63-68°F)."

There is no doubt that weather affects turnout. However this year there is a bigger confounding factor and that is the updating of the electoral register which has removed many out of date entries, the existence of which in previous recent elections has resulted in lower than actual turn out figures. Expect turnout this Thursday to be much higher even if only the same number of people vote as a result, independent of the weather.
