hey guys, is there any way to lock a folder/file so that you must enter a password before it opens?

You'll need to use a third party application, Explorer won't be able to do it itself.

Personally, I use TrueCrypt. Its not quite exactly what you're looking for, in that it acts as a seperate virtual drive rather than just locking a directory.
