Google for the k-lite codec pack.

    Alternatively, use VLC www.videolan.org

Installing a codec pack can cause problems sometimes from my experience, so using VLC (which plays just about anything) works as suggested.

Speaking from personal experience I'd advise you to steer clear of codecs, they install alot of stuff which can conflict later on..go with VLC as advised or if you must use codecs try CCCP codecs

Codec packs are chronic, and in most cases install a load of crap you'll never need.

    ffdshow tbh.

CCCP broke my DVD player function, but fortunately it's easy to uninstall.

The standard k-lite codec pack is all you need.

    It just has the essentials:

    Divx
    Xvid
    X264
    Media player classic
    ffdshow

Coupled with vlc theres nothing you cant play....

Those Mega codec packs are crazy and can mess things up...

Yes be careful of dubious looking codecs. Smitfraud malware gets installed with a lot of dodgy codecs and can really mess up your pc.

VLC or k-lite codec pack should be more than enough.

    Use vlc.
