decking questions

    i'm currently putting in a 12' x 12' decking. i already have decking from the patio door to the end of the concrete. i am connecting the new extension to the old. I have 4 inch block under the decking against the wall and at every square metre. I am putting railing on 2 sides.
    Right finally to the question how deep should the posts (4" square) go for the railing, as they will be supporting the deck also.
