AK versus M4

Sparked on by another thread, I thought I'd stick a poll up

I much rather the look of the AK myself. It's mean. It's evil. Terrorists all over the world use it. The m4 on the other hand is just too American. (If that makes any sense?)

Just to note, this is a discussion about airsoft AEGs, not their reel steel counterparts.

as of yet, i dont own either, but i intend on adding both to my collection at some stage...

I prefer the look of the M4, meself.

I think its my personality....the Armalite just looks, I dunno...more a professional soldiers gun than the AK - less basic, more of an "I mean business" look about it.
Yes, I know the AK is used all over the world by professional armies, but as Oisin says, its image is that of a terrorists gun, which in my very skewed eyes, just lacks a little something.

I'm not explaining it very well.....suffice to say, *I* think the M4 is a much sexier looking gun. Th AK looks basic and amateurish in my not very humble opinion

I'm very very biased though, 'cos I'm picking up an M15A4 with a 203 on Wednesday

Gotta be the AK.. Its a great looking gun.. almost an icon these days..
However an AK with a short mag looks a bit crap..

I also like the look of the M16 A2 with banana mag and fixed stock..

m4 for me...

i do like some of the cut down versions of the ak tho and they have a coll grenade launcher...mentally i have a block with ak's...

Substitute m4 for anything based on the AR-10/Stoner design.

It's amazing no matter where you go the AK vs. Armalite debate will always heat up very quickly The reality is they are both good in their own right.

I'm just waiting for the first Avtomat Nikonova 94 AEG, 1800 rpm ftw!

Well, the poll was more gear toward which people preferred the look of rather than performance.

Must rectify that now actually. Damn me and my shoddy poles

gotta agree with Shiva, look more professional, i have an SR-16 (basically a solid stocked M4) and ilove the thing, kinda like teh look of the AK 47 as well though and will be buying one eventually, but still gotta go with the m4

M4 all the way, i know the AK is a great weapon in real life, but the m4 is just better and sexyer lookn,( i dunno ive never used a real one) in airsoft world its gotta be an m4 for me

Both are great. Ak is the standard terrorist gun while swat always have M4's or MP5s. Wach 24, you'll see.

Like the way the Full stell ak ways more than the real steel but the M4 has all those accessories.

both guns are good but what i find funny is the Vietnam the AK was renowned for its sturdyness but it just loks like someone bolted some wood and metal together it just looks butt ugly so i would say the m4 is better and another thing.

1 when i think of the AK i think of gangsters and terrorists

2 when i think of m4 i think of SWAT and a great gun in movies

theres something about the asian made assault rifles that just makes them look like cheap knock-offs of their western counterparts.i like the look of the sa80,its just so distinguishable and is on the news everytime you turn it on,ive heard star do a deadly aeg of it,it even has the mock gas parts in the foregrip!

Shame the SA80 was so rotten it had to be totally reworked internally. The SAS didn't want to use it.

i know,i think the sas used the steyr at one stage.it wasnt totaly reworked inside,the a1 uses all the same basic parts as th a2,exept for minor changes to the gas parts and bolt assembley.and the cocking handle had to be changed so the rounds didnt ricochet back into the ejection port.still a nice weapon to look at might get one after the summer when i have a bit of money:D

Yeah I heard about that. At minimum it should be better then Academy's version which is really bad.

Has to be the AK47! Someone said it is almost an icon - whadda ya mean 'almost'?! It's shape is as much an icon as the christian cross is IMO.

That, and the fact that the M4 isn't part of a nations flag (ie- Mozambique) see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Mozambique.

If I pass my driving test next Tuesday, I'll be ordering myself a Tokyo Marui AK47 as a treat!
