The right to advertise?

Do you think that a company should have the right to make advertising revenue after you've already paid for a product or service?

Take for example in the cinema, I just paid €6 to see the film, I don't see why I should have to sit through advertisements.

Those advertisements subsidise your 6 euro entry..

Could be worse, years ago they had to sit and watch the news as well.

    Ignore them. Talk instead.

Or ideally, have assigned seating and only go in around the time of the last ad.

Honestly, I'd be of the Bill Hicks school of thought when it comes to most marketing/advertising, but there's no way to stop them. Other than just ignoring the ads.

Basically, they'll try and think of more ways to get into our heads and we'll just have to zone them out. But it'll get harder - say the new ads on the back of the headrests on Ryanair.

But, we all have the right to advertise, if we want to use it, and it's not the kindof thing that you can really control, either it's a right everyone has or no-one has.

I suppose a flipside to this (specific example) is that you had to know before you went in to the cinema that there would be ads before the film. It's not like it's a particularly unpleasant surprise once they get you into your seat and ambush you with ads, we all know about it beforehand and just have to put up with them or else not go to the cinema.

Now I'd be very unhappy if I rented a movie and when I put on the dvd I got ads like in the cinema - now that would really 'grind my gears'!
