Me and a few friends have decided we'd love to go to cuba on holidays. Anyone any tips or advice? We've read up a bit on it and it seems really cool, although doesnt seem to have much of a nightlife?

We have 4 weeks and dont want to spend the whole time in Cuba. Maybe 2 weeks in Cuba and 2 weeks somewhere else. We wanted to go to Argentina but its probably to far away and will cost a fortune for the flights, so were thinking maybe of going to Mexico. Any one any other ideas?

    Thanks for the help

leaving cuba to fly anywhere in that area is going to be expensive. i'd say mexico will be very expensive to get to. a closer options is jamaica. have heard some good things.

btw cuba has a very lively nightlife, be careful though, ladies of the night are all over the place!

Good to hear Cuba has a good nightlife. We really want to go there, but as I said we dont want to spend a whole 4 weeks there. Disappointing that we may have to pay a fortune to fly anywhere else, that could be the deal breaker as to whether we go there or somewhere else.

I reckon it should be cheap enough to get to Mexico. When I went to Cuba I flew in from Cancun ... it's only across the water from it.

I'd definitely recommend Cuba although getting a decent feed can be a problem. We stayed mainly in Casa Particulaire and the food in these sometimes left a lot to be desired, mainly it must be said due to a lack of available ingredients, spices etc ... As for nightlife, Havana certainly has plenty of bars, but a lot of the smaller towns would be pretty quiet.

    We stayed in:
Santa Clara -not much going on here
Trinidad - lovely town, beach is about 10 miles away but you get there cheaply in a taxi
Playa Giron (Bay of pigs) - on the coast, but again this place was pretty quiet. There was a big hotel by the beach and this had the only bars/restaurants
Havana - great town, super buzz about the place although you will be plagued with people trying to sell you stuff. Everyone is very hungry for dollars
