MacBook and Digital Camera...

Hi all, I have a small problem - whenever I connect my Fuji 5600 to my mac and take the photographs off it - it seems to format the the card so the camera cannot read it anymore? I then have to use the camera to format the card again... Anyone any ideas?

uncheck erase contents after import

Its under the import button in the version of iphoto on my ibook
