There were details posted in a reply to a thread of mine recently. Now that I needed the info the thread has vanished. Can anyone tell me how to get the most channels from Sky system with no subsricption?

Thanks Aidan. Is that related directly to SKY? Any ideas on how I access those menues?

Isn't there a technique for automatically seeing and loading all the stations available on a SKY system without a subscription? Or does my memory fail me?!

Not sky directly , but the satellites they use..

no way to show only free stuff... sky really don't want people doing that...

Er, you just connect a dish aligned on 28.2/5 degrees east to the Sky digibox and switch it on.

The EPG will show all available channels (both encrypted and FTA) and you'll be able to access all the FTA ones.

Except if the box thinks it has an Irish sub. In such case most of the BBC & ITV are hidden and all BBC Radio hidden.

    Go 501 Sky News.
    red
    wait for interactive to load
    remove irish card
    Press backup.

All the free UK channels then appear on guide

I've done that but still seem to have very few channels that I can watch. BBC 1, 2,3 & 4, ITV 1,2,3 & 4 M&M seems to be the extent of it. Is that few normal?

Ah, you should get more than that, like Film4 etc.

http://bytelive.com/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=Free+To+Air+on+Sky has a list, though it's out of date a bit and needs an update, which I hope to do soon.

However the entire MMDS, Cable and Deflector systems only existed to get less than that. And at rotten quality too. It's not bad for free.

it is possible after a fashion to show just the free channels on a digibox.
Now that the epg has been updated you an add up to 50 channels to your Favorites list.
So add all the free channels (or at least 50 that you might watch) to your favorites.
Then press All Channels followed by Blue button and presto an epg of free stuff to watch.
