According to www.mycarcheck.com it's on a Vauxhall Tigra! (I'm presuming that the reg is M 35 LUT).

That reg was most of his cars during his career. He certainly like his Lotii -when I was a kid I met him in a Lotus showroom in Belfast (Templetons - now defunct) and he let me have a sit in his Lotus Excel which had the BOX 1T reg.

It could actually have been an Excel and not an Esprit.
It was a long time ago and my poor little brain has been dulled by over exposure to, exhaust fumes, cellulose paint, thinners, Hammerite, acetone etc. Mmmmm a-ce-tone.

I remember seeing McGuigan with that plate (I think it was a Lotus Carlton he had it on at the time) he may have had BOX 1T at some stage but what I saw was in fact BAX 1T but he had pulled the A out of shape and with tiny legs on it so that it looked like an O. By coincidence I saw this plate on the M50 again today now owned by Car dealer who has it on a CLK. He runs www.baxit.com I took a snap but managed to delete it by mistake instead of transferring it to my PC.:o

Bristol Cars UK used to own '100 MPH'. They used it in publicity photos of their Bristol Beaufighter back in the 80's (just saw it today in a classic car book).

There is a Fiat 127 on the classic scene at the moment with the reg '127 xxx'. It's orange in colour and was up for sale at the Trim show a couple of years ago.

I always recall the reg '100 BID' on a Datsun Cherry I saw in Wicklow c.1991. I remember thinking "I wouldnt bid £100 for that heap"! :D

I actually know who owns that Merc on the ZV666 plates. Seen the thing in the flesh, very impressive :-)

I saw a black Mercedes CLK 200 once in Mallow, Co. Cork on a UK reg "EIRE X". I thought that was class!!!!!

I know of another funny plate actually.. I saw a guy in Belgium with a Ferrari 512 TR, and his reg was (you guessed it!)... 512 TR. Then apparently his business went bust and had to sell the Ferrari and bought a BMW of some desciption, keeping the same plate (in Belgium the registration plate stays with the owner instead of the car). Looked a bit sad really!!!! :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭2cv

Oh just remembered another one... Again in Belgium, this time a brand spanking new BMW 740 with the letters "SDF" in the reg (SDF is the abbreviation for Sans Domicile Fixe which basically means a homeless person). I personally would have refused that reg!!!
    :-)
