Running an Archery Club

Right guys, so I've got most things in order and ready to go! Hopefully RCSI will have archers up and practising in October when the school year begins. ONE PROBLEM. I know i formed the club and all, but i'm also the only person in the school with any experience in archery. I can shoot and give tips etc etc (my coach back home was pretty good). But i need some SERIOUS advice on running this club. I am amateur at best in terms of fixing, repairing archery equipment. I was never taught how to do it and still don't know (my coach would knock arrows, straighten them, bring down the resisitance in the bows etc). Does anyone have any advice regarding this? I feel like my only option is to join a coaching course in the summer in preparation for the school term in october. If that is the case, any ideas on where i can find a coaching course in archery???

Also i have college grounds for outdoor shoots, but seeing as the outdoor season here is so short and the focus is on indoor archery i know i need an indoor facility.
    1) Does anyone know of anywhere that i can rent as an indoor facility
    2) Are there any specific requirements needed for the facility (besides being 25-30m long)?
    3) Do i have to insure the facility and what are the requirements of that???

Any help again would be greatly appreciated!

Right so by now most of you are SUPER tired of hearing me lol! But i was just wondering how to take part in competitions. I can't seem to find a resource online that gives clear instructions (entrance fee, loaction and date of competitions etc).

    Every competition is different.
First off you have to be a member of the IAAA

For students you can join for 10 euro.

there is a full list of all the outdoor shoots this summer at http://archery.ie/calender.html

I would recomend that over the summer to shoot outdoors. Its alot easier (Bigger targets) and more enjoyable (When its not raining)

Around september/october people normally head back indoors. Since you have grounds to shoot on, use them.

Also, so many people work in the city centre. If you were to set up the outdoor field you might make a bit of money for the club. Charge IAAA people 3-5euro a night to train with you guys!!!

It would be handy to train straight after work and go home when all the traffic has died down!

Halls cost a fortune, most clubs are lucky because they have been using those halls for years etc so rent is cheap. Some places charge 50-100 an hour

For the summer stick with your FREE outdoor range and during the winter, if your college does not supply you with a hall, you can always go to DIT, DCU or UCD. These are all City centerish clubs and would be very happy to let you train with them.

As for insurance. If your hall is part / field is part of the college, it should be covered under your college insurance. If your club joins the IAAA, then you can insure any field / hall you want. It will be included in your membership, which is free for the first year. I think its around 200 euro, im sure Trig will correct me.
