I run a teen only Mixed Martial Arts class in Parkmore, in the Point Blank Gym, (www.pointblankgym.com) not sure what part of the city you are in, but I get teens from all over. The classes are only running since September but are proving very popular and students in them are learning fast and doing well in competition, though competing is of course optional.

Give me a call on 087-2037926 or mail me info at pointblankgym.com for any more info.

PS-> I didn't start training until I was 17 and many of my students much later, so you are still well young enough to start!

Too old at 16

I started martial arts at 25!!!!! You're never too old :D

Any ideas on which martial art takes your fancy so we can narrow it down a bit?

I train with Mark at point blank submissions and it is very good not only for competing in mma or brazilian jiu-jitsu but also for self defence, coach is good and friendy as are all the other teens that I train with, we have about three or four who only started recently so don't be afraid of not being good enough, I would definitly reccomend it!

If you choose point blank submissions, the 1st 2 classes of which are free so you can see if you like it, our next teen class is on wednesday at 7 - 8.

What we do is mma, bjj is a big part of it......as is judo, a guy who only knew judo just started, and he is very good as his takedowns were superior to everyone elses, trust me its good fun and the coach is sound, drop in on wed as I said to see if it is your kind of thing if you want. As for not knowing what it is, its basically grappling, all about the ground, its good fun though, the coach teaches boxing too if you want

this is the bebo page and it gives details http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=4076934984 I presume you have the website

Im guessing Mma is Mixed Martial Arts? what exactly would you cover. Also is there a centre where they teach just taekwondo.

MMA covers striking, takedowns and ground work.

Basically, you'll learn how to strike functionally and effectively.. You'll learn how to take people down with throws and sweeps... And then on the ground, you'll learn how to control them and make them give up with a variation of functionla armlocks, chokes and leglocks.

MMA is where it's at. You'll learn loads and the best thing is, you'll know what your learning will work.

There is a sparring aspect involved, and some conditioning. You'll get in shape, fast. You'll understand quickly that flashy nonsense doesn't work in real life. MMA is very fun, and there are lots of events for you to watch should you like training with the good lads of point blank.
