I came across this by accidentally mistyping Kyokushin into Youtube :o. These are two extremely tough and skilled guys. I think my opinion of how effective kids can be at Martial Arts has now changed. Kyokushin vs 'Shaolin'. Enjoy

Skilled & entertaining yes, but really nothing special IMO.

Looks to me like they are good for their age but till they seem more like brawlers with the way they swing some punches. Also the guy in white drops his guard every time he kicks.

I'll go with Mairt on this one.

Dude, their kids, to have that level of motor coordination, balance, and timing is very impressive.

Those kids rock. I'd like to have an army of them running around after me kicking everyone's ass.

Colum: "Hey Barry I wanna train for free this month"

    Roper: "Ok Colum, fair enough".

Colum "You didn't call me sir. Kids get him!!!"

Firstly the kids (aged 11) were fighting outside their own rule set. The karate fighter, obviously from a full contact knockdown karate background (kyukushin or similar) wasn't used to punching to the head, the shaolin fighter, obviously from a sanshou background wasn't allowed use his clinch.

Next, they're fighting in front of about a million chinese kids and their parents so they're obviously under a lot of stress and are nervous.

So under the conditions they did really well and I was well impressed. Having said that, if someone can get another video showing people of their age doing much better, I'd be proved wrong.

I guess now we know where those 3 women that got 1 year suspended sentences for making their kids fight got their ideas from:p

Just to further add to the thread.

I've seen countless competitions here in Ireland (and abroad) with similar and better skills displayed. As I'm sure some members here have too.

Like I said earlier, skilled and entertaining. But when compared to standards here in Ireland, nothing special.
