McCartney and Lennon aren't Irish. They are english of irish decent. Theres a big difference. England had more influence over their lives than Ireland.

the blacks, latinos, chinese et al should start calling white americans 'european americans'. see how much that pisses them off.

Most irish people don't do that IMO. If anything the celebrities themselves say "oh I'm irish" etc. manyeb just so that they hope to sell more records (or whatever) here.

Its the same when some American's go to england or Scotland, for example.

Johnny Rotten's family are from Tuam, I know a few of them, but it doesnt make him Irish.

Not that it cares these days where anyone is from

No. Some African Americans get angry if whites refer to them as black, preferring the more pc African American. On the other hand, some will get angry if whites refer to them as African American, preferring the non pc black. It's really a crapshoot.

I wish they would. It wouldn't piss me off at all. As a matter of fact, African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, all get a PC name, while white people are just, well, white. The half of me that's white sometimes feels left out of all the PC love. Right now, I'm white and Native American. However, just imagine - I could be European Native American. That's one more proper noun added to my ethnic status, and everyone knows the more proper nouns you use to describe your ethnicity, the more American you really are.

My gf is American, but claims to be Irish (Through VERY distant Irish roots). I take pride and pleasure in refuting that. There aren't many of us in this world, and I like it that way - exclusive membership

And the Native Americans in turn are also from this continent... they were from Siberia originally, at least thats how they are believed to have got there

However further south, the natives down there that were around before the incas etc... they could be said to be the original Americans.. however everyone came from Africa so we are all... well you get the idea.. no people are originally from where they are now except the Africans (native).
