straight on to Ebay and sent a message ... an angry one... so i get this response "hi, sorry for the trouble, but we dont normally give refunds" (im fuming) ... eh woman i havent even received the correct product off you which i paid for!! anyway after 7 back and forward emails i finally get my refund AFTER i go to the trouble of posting the fecking thing back and of course i wont get my P&P!!! bastards!!!

    rant over!

i will as soon as i get my refund...seriously they couldnt see why i was so mad! the A540 is like a throwaway camera compared to the A710 and it was refurbished!!

I assume they will refund me through paypal?!

    That's rough, mate!

Reason #1 i don't buy pricey electronics on "Flea Bay".

Only real electronic i bought was a wired remote for my Zen:Vision M and i'm not altogether happy with that (buttons are tiny on the remote!).

Other than that, i've been very lucky with EBay.

Although girlfriend used my Paypal to buy a fascia for her Samsung D600 - ut arrived and seemed grand so i left positive feedback. Turns out when i tried to fit it, it barely fitted the phone at all and didn't seem like a compatible cover for it. Needless to say.. as far as i know, you can't retract positive feedback. I've learned my lesson - don't leave feedback until you've tried and tested the product in question.

I think that the Paypal/Ebay refund system is a joke.
A few weeks ago, I ordered an Infra-red USB gizmo from actionace007/uxcell.com, some Hong Kong outfit. The one that they sent didn't match the description and was the same low spec as another crap one that I'd gotten on Ebay before. I told them that I wasn't going to post it back. It was £1 for the gadget and £4 for the postage. After several emails back and forth, one including my photo of the USB device sent to me, they sent another one FOC. Unfortunately, it was identical to the previous one.
At that point I gave up and opened a Paypal dispute.
The seller told to send them back for a refund.
I didn't even bother asking An Post how much it would cost to send these damn things back as I was only, if I was very lucky, going to get £1 from the Chinese.

Jesus, i've had nothing but good experiences on eBay. One guy took ages to dispatch, but he let me know why, and it was all grand.

I've done about 30 transactions on eBay (3 of which I was the seller), and never a problem.

Ive only had one bad experience, and that got sorted favourably. When Ive bought cheap electronics, I knew they were cheap hong kong stuff so it wasnt a problem. It does annoy me how many people and either scamming on selling sh*t on ebay, because its making it harder for legit sellers to trade there.

Im having a similar problem bought something from ebay and now the seller is banned and he has my money.I cant file a complaint as paypal keeps saying error. The refund system is a complete joke.I just lost 20 euro :(

this was only my second transaction with Ebay, lol no a good start...the seller was a powerseller and im very surprised as they had a 99.8% rating. I notice they are still advertising the A710. they never even offered to exchange it but only to refund it, leads me to wonder if they even stock the product

Just curious to see whether he read the *whole* auction page and isn't jumping the gun....recently bought Digital SLR off ebay with absolutely no problems (emilandlily seller in UK) so just a bit curious

i had to open a dispute with...sent the item back by registered mail which they received last week...still no refund, 3 times ive sent them the tracking number! every time i email to find out when im being refunded i get " sorry for the trouble sir, what was the tracking number an i will escalate it to my supervisor!!" and hear nothing back!

    what ****e!!

I'm so mad i want to break stuff!!!

    Breathe deeply.

Next time you email ask for a phone number, or check if there is one somewhere in your info on the seller. Speaking to a real person might get this sorted, its a lot easier to ignore/forget emails.

Otherwise persevere and try not to get mad, its just a mistake, no ones dead. (yet) :)

Im in the same situation as you with the same seller. Ordered an A710 and got a A540. After the first email they promised to resend the parcel force courier to collect my camera and replace it with the correct one. After a week and no courier I emailed them again this time to get a different person who was asking me for the return tracking number (which I didn't have as the camera was never collected), after I responded to that I was emailed by another person who was asking me what was wrong with the camera  . I explained to her it was the wrong camera and again they promised a courier to come out. Four days later and no courier so I email again to be told "Sorry to hear your camera doesnt work, please return the item and we will refund you" . I sent it back last Friday and informed them of this and they emailed me back asking me to track it and tell them what it arrives back at their depot. Unfortunately I wasn't given a tracking number to do this and had I been told I was required to track it prior to shipping the camera out I would have made sure to get one!

Edit: Recieved another e-mail today about the tracking.

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for your email and the update. We will be on the lookout for your package. Thank you and again we apologize for the inconvenience. If there are any other questions, please feel free to email us.

    Regards,

    Jon

Hopefully this will work out :(

I had a pretty messed up experience with ebay a few years back. I (for some unholy reason) thought it was a good idea to purchase an ipod from ebay (lesson to be learned...never drink with the internet and credit card in hand!).

So, I did...a month later I still didn't have my ipod and the buy wasn't returning my e-mails. So, I had to submit a complaint. I complained both to the buyer and ebay simultaneously. Ebay got right on it and got me my refund within a week.

Since then, I've purchsed all kinds of random things off the internet from ebay: a wicked balance board...(if anyone has ever used a skateboard, snowboard or surfboard I HIGHLY recommend one of these...sooo much fun!), books (everyone love these things), collectable poker chips (crazy new collecting fad, check 'em out at collectablesmania.com)...etc.

It's pretty much a crap shoot with ebay...

Bottom line: don't buy electronics from ebay.
