Pighead blames the Romanians. They've obviously just been given their free computers from the government. Right then, time for another thread in After Hours.

That's impressive. Have you worked out what actually causes the jump that happens every time you upgrade?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

Re does sessions maybe? So has before upgrade and then after?

    Probably not...

  • Business & Finance Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 32,387 Mod ✭✭✭✭DeVore

Its very simple. Before the upgrade the site runs like poo and people don't really enjoy being on a site that is running like poo. Hence they don't stick around.

Make the site nice and enjoyable to use and people will wander and stick around poking around in various forums.

This naturally leads to more users concurrently.
(not to mention that if the site is upper bound by hardware, when you increase that hardware's capacity you increase the upper limit!).

Is it bad that I am starting to think of users like the little guys that wander into and around Sim Amusement-park :)

Quickly, build a candy floss centre, the users are bored! :)

Ah the memories. I remember that time me and my brother orchestrated an incredible stock market coup, running the park on absolute minimal funding while pouring revenue across the market of rival parks. Just as we were about to go bust we sold out the shares and came out with billions of Theme Park Dollars. Then we built a Theme Park purely of rollercoasters laden with corkscrews.

But not even they were the days. Sim City on the SNES. Now that was a game.
