My passport is out and i havent got it renewed. I need to get to the UK within the next two weeks or so, so have not got enough time to apply for a new one.
Do I need a passport or will my Age card do as form of id?

    Flying to Stansted.

I believe if you go to the passport offices yourself and explain the situation they may be able to get it through in a few hours.

Also Post offices run "Passport Express" service these days (cant remember how long it takes though).

I'm not too well up on using other photo ID travellign between EU countries so ill let someone else field that one.

    What airline you flying?
Ryanair don't take Age Card but I think Aer Arann do. Check the terms and conditions.

If you have drivers licence, then that will do fine for any Airline going to the UK.

dont risk it, you can buy a passport within a few days with proof of your flights and get it within 24 hours. however an extra charge incurs. My friend got one the day before when his passport was stolen. I would not risk using an age card in the UK!

Firstly – There is a common travel area between Ireland and the UK so you do not actually need to have a passport to travel to the UK.

Secondly – Some airlines insist on a passport as a form of id while travelling between Ireland and the UK so as someone said above check the Terms and Conditions on your booking.

If your airline does not require a passport as proof of id, make sure you do have the piece of id they require.

I know it sounds like common sense but this question seems to appear a lot on this form.

Im fairly sure the garda ID does not count for most airlines, I got a bmi flight to london recently and the girl in front of me was turned away with a drivers licence.

That's what I am saying, check your T&C, it all depend on the airline\boat you tarvel to teh UK with.
But your are not legally required to have a passport to travel between Ireland and the UK.

i.e If you swan from Ireland to the UK you would not have to produce a passport when you arrive on the beach.
