Hi, will an adsl router, also act as a normal network router, ie for file sharing and gaming, or is it only for sharing the internet? thanks

yeah an "intelligent" ADSL router it should work fine as a NW router though I would double check the particular ADSL router you are using as there could be model specific restrictions. I assume as well you have an additional 4 LAN ports for sharing.
