    Hi all
So what are the odds on the Beckhams being brainwashed by Cruise et al and becoming Scientologists? I'm pretty sure it's going to happen, P & B seem dumb enough to fall for it all. Did anyone watch this the other night?
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/panorama/
or this is much better quality
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-126281853779690652
Man they really are a scary bunch. I sent them some emails asking them some questions, I wonder if they'll start watching me! Isn't it amazing that people actually follow the ramblings of a madman?

An abbreviation of the Latin et alii, meaning “and others.”

“Et al.’ is a scholarly abbreviation of the Latin phrase et alia, which means “and others.” It is commonly used when you don’t want to name all the people or things in a list, and works in roughly the same way as “etc.” “The reorganization plan was designed by Alfred E. Newman, General Halftrack, Zippy the Pinhead, et al.; and it was pretty useless.” The “al.” in this phrase needs a period after it to indicate it is an abbreviation of alia; but it is incorrect to follow “et” with a period

However if you ask a scientologist that they will claim they have no idea what you are talking about.... however... Battlefield earth anyone? :D

In fairness, that threads degenerating into yet another athiests Vs Christians thread. There's another thread about it in Spirituality.

I don't know about that. I think it'll be a bit like the Simpsons episode with the cult. Posh and Becks may be too dumb to be brainwashed!

What struck me as interesting was that in the auditing sessions, these scientologist idiots reveal intimate secrets to the auditors. When people try to leave, they allegedly threaten to reveal these details.

Makes you wonder if Tom Cruise, John Travolta etc. might possibly be afraid to leave the cult or speak out about it for fear of certain secrets being revealed. I'll leave you to guess what those secrets might be.

If the Beckhams convert to Scientology then good for them. If they don't convert to Scientology then good for them also. I don't see how this is of interest to anyone else though.

Well sadly, a lot of people look up to celebrities instead of thinking for themselves. So if popular celebrities start joining cults, then their fans might start thinking it's a good idea and follow suit.

Oh theyll be big game for Scientologists, really crack open the UK market.

I liked the way the Panorama guy riled the Scientologists with the cult windups. The Scientologist leader Tommy seemed to have serious anger issues - maybe Panorama ought to have recommended he see a psychatrist.

I actually heard them quoting something Tom Cruise said on the radio station this morning about P&B joing the Super Happy Friends Club saying something along the lines of "They can only join if we think they're really serious about it" So looks like I was right and you (all) owe me a tenner!

surprised noone put up this quote from david beckham " yes im pretty sure we are going to Christen Brooklyn but we`re not sure what religion yet". its hardly like they are passed masters of all this religious.

Zero. They'd have to have brains in the first place.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,442 ✭✭✭Firetrap

Presumably the odds will increase if the Americans don't embrace Skeletor and her soccer playing husband with open arms.

Have to say, I'm no fan of scientology - or their methods. But the journalist was very one sided and seemed to have an anti-scientology agenda. Hardly good journalistic integrity was it?

If they granted him some proper access then maybe we could have seen the other side. All he got was that Tom Cruise wannabe acting the **** all the time.
