    1/2 6-max

Open raiser seems good, dont know other guy.

    opener has 350, sb has 140, I have 250
    Preflop
Opener opens for 7 in lp, sb minraises to make it 12, I make it 40 with KK, opener passes, sb calls

    Flop (100ish)
    Qs 6h 3s
sb checks, I hate poker and shove anyway. Anybody just poke their own eyes out instead?

I am not fond of it, it looks like he would fold most hands that you beat anyway and calls when he is ahead but he is min raising so may get a donkish call but in general I think it's bad.

stacks are too shallow to do anything else.

As stated earlier. Stacks to small to do anything too creative. If he has a set or hits his flush so be it.

I would be thinking I'm prob ahead and would be looking to get more in there from 99, tt, jj and other possible hands that I am ahead of. Bet 100.

Do you see him min-reraising preflop, then calling a double the pot reraise preflop with 99,TT or JJ? I dont see that very often.

This really is read specific and one where Pokertracker Stats would be extremely valuable.

If you only put him on Aces, Kings or Queens, your behind 2 out of 3. And Kings are unlikely as you have 2. Surely he doesnt minraise with AK, either calls or makes a big raise I would have thought and I find it difficult to put him on a suited Ace. I seem to be in the minority, but I try to slow down here, control the pot and get to a showdown cheaply as I have showdown value. Probably check and reevaluate on the turn.

My guess is you pushed, he called with AA or QQ but you sucked out:)

What do you guys think about check-calling? I know this is normally a donkey play.. but here it’s a trap to induce a bet from a short stack with a worse hand

If he has AQ / JJ / 1010 / 99 , then check-calling is the surest way to get him all-in. You want to give him a chance to steal / bet

If he has AA / QQ, then you lose the same amount that you would be shoving in the first place.

I think I agree with this.
I prefer checking the flop & then calling a turn bet, to pushing the flop.
But I'd be happy even to check it down.

You're right, but only likely interpretation then is aa,kk,qq and he is slow playing. For me, that means its all going in the middle anyway so I still bet now hoping that he has bet the 99ttjj strangely ... I think the phrase "because I hate poker" sums it up nicely.

If I can keep myself from gauging my eyes out after this flop, I check behind on the flop, there's only 1 bet left and there's still 2 more streets to get the money in, one of us has the other crushed, so instead of pushing now, I'll hopefully call a turn push when we show weakness on the flop, alternatively I'll push the turn if checked to again, possibly even checking again letting him push the River.

I think as we go further down the streets his range for putting in the rest of his chips increases as he might bluff with a worse hand at some stage, and I'd rather give him the opportunity to do so. I think pushing the flop just takes that option away from him and decreases the amount of hands that he'll be willing to get the rest of his money in with.

Results: well as-seen, I shoved, and villain called fast with QQ, but the turn was a K - so the god guy won out in the end.
I think, based on the preflop action, that somebody like this almost always has QQ here ???

I should probably check this flop tho, but whenever I check a non-A hi flop with KK, an Ace magically appears on the turn 100% of the time.

I find it usually pops up on the flop along with the obligatory Q, so basically we beat exactly nothing, yet I can never fold and bluff at it 100% of the time...

Val You trying to get him to turn shove AK?

the kinda player who minraises p/f can definitely stack off with worse on the flop imo.
