route Dublin - Cork

I've had the idea to cycle from Dublin to Cork in the back of my mind for a while as I currently live between the two cities. Only problem is as a blow-in to both, I don't remember the roads pre-motorway's. Can anyone suggest the best route to take for this trip. I would hope to do it in one day some weekend.
