Basically, a friend got his garage converted.

    No TV socket.

Now it's a bit of a mess trying to take cable in from the sitting room, so is there some sort of wireless solution?

    How about something like this?

would that allow you to change channels or would you just have to watch whatever is on on the main TV?

I'm sure there is some sort of wireless solution out there.. google isn't helping me though so far..

It doesn't have to be sky, even terrestrial TV would do..

The wireless solution will only give you the channel of whatever it is connected to i.e. sky box or ntl box etc...you can get ones with a remote sender which will enable you to change the channel from within the garage, however these units are very hit and miss and are subceptable to interference depending on the distance required..silly converting and not installing a tv socket.

well it would be a big job taking a feed off another socket as you'd have to go through 2 brick walls..

or else just take a long cable and run it through..

    there must be a way..

if the TV aerial feeds to the TV socket, surely there is a way of taking that feed from the TV socket to another TV wirelessly?

Drill a hole in outside wall.

    No.

You need video for a wireless sender. You can't feed the RF "wirelessly"
    1) It would be illegal if you did manage to find gear to do it
    2) It would likely "feedback" the RF equivalent of a P.A. system howling.
    3) The whole street would get it
    4) The quality would be rubbish

Try a 90 Euro video sender from SCART (does stereo and remote control). Otherwise drill a hole.

Where do you live? You might be close enough to a transmitter for a decent indoor aerial to suffice.

As Watty said , no substitute for drilling a couple of holes and running ct100 or RG6 from a proper f connector splitter or distribution amp.

However, you could try a video sender with return channel for remote control.
Connect aerial to any old VCR (video cassette part does not even need to work).
Connect VCR to video sender via scart.
Connect new TV to receiver part of video sender.
Make sure VCR is correctly tuned in to channels availabel from aerial.
Position remote sensor so it can 'see IR pick up on front of VCR.
Use VCR remote to change channels from remote location.
