I was having a mock arguement with several of my friends at school today as to the best game on the SNES. most of us had more than one favourite game but there weren't many games that we agreed were the best.
my favourites were Bomber Man, Kirby and the Goof Troop
Just out of interest, what would your favourite SNES game be?

one that I ALWAYS return to is Mega Man X, such a well put together game. Another favourite is deffo A Link To The Past and finally Super Mario Kart

Either Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Mario Kart or California Games...
I could never come to a decision which one I loved the most.

Ooh I couldn't pick one so it'd be out of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Starwing. If I had to pick a number one it'd probably be Zelda.

Oooh theres a good few from yesteryear..Starwing, Street Fighter 2, Fifa International Soccer(wasnt it amazing when we first seen it??? :D) Doom, Sunset Riders, Donkey Kong Country.

Terranigma - the best and most underated RPG of the 16bit generation

I'd say Mario Kart for multiplayer and either Zelda or Super Metroid for single player. Too many other candidates to mention as runners-up, though...

Most of my faves have been mentioned already.

One of my favourites was a little known gem called Disneys Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse - a rock hard platformer with gorgeous graphics and great gameplay.

It's probably Zelda: Link to the past but like the OP Super bomber man will go down as one of the best multiplayer games of all time.... Bless you multi-tap!

Plenty for me. Metroid 3, Zelda, Mario World, Yoshi's Island. I used to love Smash TV for multiplayer. "I'd buy that for a dollar!" lol ah memories

for some reason that name rings a bell in the dark recesses of my memory. I might have played it once, but I remember it to be great.

another great game, if you can find it... anywhere! is Claymates. ooooh the hours wasted on that game. and the little minigames you had to colplete to get to the next level, *mwah* genious

    Top 5 for me:

Super Metroid: An absolutely perfect example or game design. I can't fault anything from the amazing soundtrack, gorgeous graphics and unbeatable exploration based gameplay.

Final Fantasy VI: Better than VII. Huge game, great graphics, superb soundtrack topped off with an incredible story and characters.

Zelda link to the past: for me it's better than ocarina of time. 2D zelda gameplay perfected.

Super Mario World: Best 2D platfomer ever.

Axelay: The snes didn't have a great selection of shmups but this was by far the best.

The snes really had a huge amount of top quality games and i'd be here all night listing them.

    Chronotrigger.

My favourite game on any system ever.

How the hell did I forget about chronotrigger?? I love that game!

RPG: Seiken Denatsu 3 / Chronotrigger / Star Ocean / Zelda / Bahamut Lagoon
    Shm'up: DOOM / Metal Warriors / Starfox
    Racing: Mario Kart / F-Zero
Platformer: Super Mario World / Donkey Kong / Zombies ate my Neighbours
Sports: Sensible Soccer / NHL Franchises

Such an amazing console - the Genesis/Megadrive bears no comparison to this. The RPGs on the SNES are still the pinnacle of the art; especially the squaresoft ones. Only thing it was really missing (proportionately) was side-scrolling shoot'em'ups in the R-Type vein, but I don't care much for them anyways.

The snes had a pathetic Cpu so couldn't really handle the mass of sprites required for such games. It still had some classics such as axelay, un squadron, super aleste, parodius and r-type 3. You really should care about these games since they are the purest form of videogaming.

For replay value Super Mario Kart all the way. For an amazing example of a one-play through experience then Super Metroid. Just amazing in every way ( still clear it every 2 years or so).

    Zombies ate my neighbours
    mario cart

I'd say it's a toss-up between Super Metroid and Secret of Mana, with Zelda, Chrono Trigger,FF6, Terranigma, Yoshi's Island and SF2 Turbo all being close runners-up. Technically FF6 and CT are better RPGs than Mana, but I just enjoyed it more, especially the multiplayer.

    Super Mario Kart.
Had some great craic with friends and relations on that game.
It had an instinctive flow to it.

Don't compare the Snes and Megadrive, they both had there strengths and weaknesses, both great machines, both had games that sucked and games that rocked, nuff said.

But while we're on the Snes subject, my fave games are,

Cybernator, awesome game, never had such a feeling of tramping about in a heavily armed mech like this before or since, class stuff.
Super Mario World, all been said before, perfick!
SuperMarioAllstars, like all our Christmasses coming at once, still worth owning.
Yoshis' Island, More platforming goodness, Oh yes!
SimCity, I don't normally like these games but this was brilliant.
    StarWing, superb, perfection.
    SuperMetroid, see Starwing.
Super Star Wars, ok, so I never finshed this, at least not without cheating, but bugger me what a great game!
DKCountry 1/2/3, still fun to play, and gorgeous to look at.
