Wireless bridging or switching

    I'm quite sure that this has been covered before, but I can't find any references...

    I had NTL BB installed yesterday and of-course the modem is installed behind the TV, miles away from where I need it. So, I now have two wireless routers, which I want to bridge so that my upstairs systems, which are RJ45'd to a Linksys, have internet access.

    So, the questions are:

    Do I need to configure routing on the Linksys or can I force it to act as a switch and not have to worry about routing?
    Should all the switches and computers be on the same subnet as the public IP address or what's the guidance on that?

    Roughly, this is what I have at the moment:

    WAN/Modem - > D-Link Router <-> (WLAN Cloud) <-> Linksys Router ->RJ45<- Computers
