Have any of you guys seen this??

Warning - Some people may not want to view this clip.

It's a grotesque assault on a 91 year war veteran in a car jacking. The other controversy, besides the horrific attack, was the fact that there were quite a few onlookers who did absolutely nothing to prevent the attack. Personally, I couldn't have just stood there - I'd have gone in, and really tried to smash the guy up. I might have lost the fight or even been stabbed, but my conscious would not allow me to do nothing.

I can understand people not wanting to get involved - but at least try call or get help. As opposed to just rubber necking. :(

At least they got the scumbag....

The people standing by were probably associates of that scumbag.

[rant]For ****s sake!! If I was there, I would literally beat the **** out of that ****ing thug! What a prick, he deserves to be shot!!

I feel sorry for that man, he put his life on the line for his country, and ends up getting robbed and attacked. I thank god that man didn't die.

That's what I thought originally... but after I saw the report on Fox news apparently he was by himself, and they were just onlookers. :(
He was a pretty tough old fella - that scumbag had to hit him a fair few times before he'd go down.

I saw another report on Fox sometime back (CC TV footage again). Some thug hit a one hundred and one year old women as he entered her apartment and made off with her handbag. I just don't under stand it... :(

yes another piece focusing on the shortcomings of humanity - thats the 'news' alright

....a lot to be learned from the old man's response at the end. no anger, aggression etc just heartfelt advice, humanity at its best - i guess there's hope afterall

Sorry, but what's it got to do with martial arts?

Analysis - for self-defense purposes, and understanding how criminals operate. As well as highlighting some of the problems that people could face in their environment - such as people not bothering to lend a hand, etc.

Also shows what type of scumbags you might have to deal with in a modern society (god forbid).

Without sounding evil, it looked like he was fairly wedged between the door and the other car. When the door was closed, he collapsed.

But fair play to the old mans passive comments at the end of the tape.

Those people should be ashamed of themselves.

Can't watch the clip atm, but I presume it takes place in the US. I did the J1 thing there and what I found was that because of gun culture, people just don't get involved. Instead of knocking on your door and asking you to keep it down, they call the cops, etc.

    Honestly, I blame guns.

ok....just watched it....holy sh*t. That's pretty horrific. Those "onlookers" looked like scumbags tbh. Quite possibly yer mans mates.

    edit:
That's what I thought originally... but after I saw the report on Fox news apparently he was by himself, and they were just onlookers.

Missed that. That's shameful. Just shameful. I mean, there are about 7 or 8 of them. Plenty to go and do something about it. Fear of being shot has to have played a part in their lack of action.

I'd definitely agree with you there. I understand that he was a pretty frightening guy, and could well have been armed. But you'd have thought they would have run off to get help, or call the police.

    I dunno...

I don't think I'm a tough guy at all, but I'd have waded in - trying to hit him from behind or maybe pick up something from the street.

I heard a story on some afternoon show on RTE a where a cabby stopped to help a guy out, and was kicked into hospital while the original guy who was being attacked ran off. Although there were 8 guys involved not much anyone could do but call the police. Apparently they hit the cabby with an iron bar multiple times, he was lucky to be alive. feckin' depressing... :(

    I'd be the same...

Also I don't think that I'd be able to live with the guilt if I just stood around and did nout.

Absolutely. My brother lived in the states for years and he said even on the roadways, if someone cuts you up, just leave it - good chances are they're carrying a pistol in the glove compartment and that generally they wouldn't be shy about producing it. I blame Hollywood tbh.

Good outcome for this attempted assault.

I saw this on T.V. the other night and thought it was pretty relevant. A 58 year old woman fought off an attacker while she was praying in church. How did she do it? She used her pen! After he was stabbed in the neck he just legged it. Fair play to her... And it was all captured on CCTV.

So keep your steel pens handy! :)
