    Hi all.
Just got a canon powershot g7. When I take a photo it looks fine on LCD screen, but then I upload it onto my PC and it appears way darker. Took a load of photos on auto and manual setting outside and inside and the problem persists. Is this something I just have to get used to or has anyone any idea how to fix this?

    don't know whats wrong there?
i've one and it works really good, like if it's on auto everything is set for you - it has P mode AV and TV as well as M and there's scene modes too + movies which are pretty good. I guess you need to return it if it's acting like that...

Hmm... I also have a G7 and I haven't noticed this problem at all... the only time it appeared too dark was when I forgot I had set it on -2/3!

Edit: Actually having read the post again... if it's ok on the LCD are you sure it's not the PC monitor? or possibly something to do with the memory card...?

I've got one too and have had no problems with it.

    1. Is your monitor set up properly?

    2. Check the Advanced Users Guide that came with the camera. I don't have mine here so I can't point you to the specific page. Read up on the settings for Exposure Compensation.

    3. Post your question here and you are likely to get some help. Lots of very knowledgeable G7 users on that forum. You will need to register first.

This is something that happens on digital cameras when the user relies on the lcd for the photo review, small bright high contrast lcd will make the picture appear brighter than it actually is, you should review the photo using the Histogram on your g7, expose the to the right of the histgram and you'll be fine.

yep, check it out on another PC and see if the problem follows the switch. If it does, it's the camera at fault, if it doesn't, then it's your PC.
