Finally got around to cooking some business cards up - Had to do something while boards was acting up.

    Anyways.

Last one is a template. Haven't 100% decided on which ones to go for, some I definitly won't, but said I'd throw them all up.

(Before Paddy has a go at me, not sure at all with bleeds yet, all still in the early stages! :p )

They are excellent but the black are the ones that appeal to me the most.

Ordered some Moo cards from flickr yesterday so it should be interesting to see what they are like.

Moo cards look the business alright.

I agree that the black ones are the most appealing...personally, #3 #4 #5 #6 and #7 are the strongest.

I want to have a selection to hand out, depending on the interest.

Very good, all of them. I'm puzzled by the dot after the Al though. It's not consistant.

Very nice, I like this one (businesscard2portrait) first of the black ones I think.

That'd be my choice of photographer, after seeing this one.

Editted: Just on the back side, could you consider that back print also a little verticaly moved? It is noce, however I can imagine it a little more clear and readable.

How many do you have to narrow it down to?

I think the last one does best to show off your photography!

Seriously tho' No. 7 for me, But with a selection you can target your audience. Good thinking Batman!

5 and 6 I'd say. Great idea with getting a few different designs printed, although it will up the cost a bit. You'd probably get a good deal from Vistaprint.

The carousel for me Fajitas, it says playful, and professional all in one.

As discussed, you need all of them, or a least one from each genre, you dole them out according to the client. 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9 ftw! Maybe a wedding one?

I like the portrait card on the black background. Second best for me is the Gig card.

    Ger.

One thing a mate said to me was don't put any photo on your cards because then the person thinks you only shoot that one thing. Ok having multiple cards gets over this but it'd be a bit of stress trying to pick the right one and what if they're a model who's getting married?

The cards do look good, but I'm going to do some up soon and just have a logo on it so I'm not constricted to one area.

    Just something to consider.

the gradient on the text looks poor. as does the 'shadow' of the text.

The first and fourth black ones would be my vote, and despite the last one being a template, I quite like it as is in a minimalist kind of way, though it is repeating front and back.

One thing, shouldn't they have a URL on them? Not sure if you already have a website Al, but if I'm sure you could ply Ryan with enough pints to give you a bit of hosting space :)

    Cheers all.

Hoping to round it down to about 4 or 5 types.

The dot between Al and Higgins is just to do with my email at the moment, but most likely won't be going into the finished version, I'm just playing with what works at the moment!

I was asking a guy doing vis-com in college about logo's, and apparently they're really not the way to go at the moment - photographs and an oddly sized card is most catching.

The gradients are poor, but that's because they're pixel rather than vector based, another thing to be sorted out.

I must start throwing pints at Ryan actually... :D URL will be pretty important as soon as I have time.

    Should come together nicely, hopefully.

you don't need any gradients. keep it simple.
you're not adding any info on that side of the card anyway - also, it may be cheaper to get one-sided cards printed.

In theory, if you head to a proper printer's to do up cards (say, 5,000), you always have the option of printing as many as you can fit onto a sheet. so, e.g., make 9 cards to fit onto A5, then get the printer to cut them, so, instantly, you have 9 different cards for the same price.
