    Hi guys, a few questions, at the moment i have a pc in my bedroom upstairs, the modem on it is an old one without its own power supply, it get that from a usb cord, i want to get a proper powered modem (as the connection keeps dropping!), at the same time i have a new pc downstairs, i want to network both pc's, komplett do a wireless modem/router, this will solve the problem of having to get seperate hardware. Will this modem be compatible with IOL broadband? also will i be losing much speed with a wireless network connection rather than with a wired one? the main network use is to share broadband and for gaming. Also I dont want to have to have both pcs on, to receive broadband, is this possible? its just a waste of power... thanks for your help!

    If you get a new modem with ethernet socket ( maybe wireless too) , both pcs wil be able to use the internet at the same time , and you won't need both on just to use it on one.
    If you're gaming , you may be better of dropping a cable to the gaming pc.

    thanks for your help, also could i ask you what exactly this does? "Hawking HBB1 Broadband Booster - broadband booster network accelerator" check it out at this link http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=325031 what would you expect the speed increase to be? is it compatible for internet sharing ie, 2 pcs networked and using the net at the same time?

    No. You ONLY need an ADSL router. You're phone line [DSL Broadband] will plug into that. Then your computers will plug into it too.

    <tiny pedantic rant>
    OT : Please give descriptive subjects to your threads. "Help Please" doesn't mean anything to anyone. "Advice on ADSL Router" or something similar would have been much much better and given you much more answers.

    People on forums have a tendency to not read threads with non descriptive subjects.

    That one does not appear to have wireless - you need something like these:

    or http://netgear.co.uk/wireless_adslrouter_dg834g.php

    Dont forget that you will need a wireless card for the pc.

    Thanks, im actually going to go with a wired set up, the main wall that wireless would have to go through and then upstairs is 3ft of thick granite! none of your mickey mouse card board walls! :) Iv actually found a DLink 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch in the office here thats not being used, so if i have this now i just need the adsl modem right?
